Who are you?
Why are you here?
What is your purpose?
What is your worth?
One dictionary.com definition of the word “worth” is: “usefulness or importance, as to the world, to a person, or for a purpose.” And, the definition of the word “worthy” is “having adequate or great merit, character, or value.”
So, are you useful or important to the world, to a person, or for a purpose? Do you have adequate or great merit, character, or value? Yes, you are and you do! You you are worthy and you have worth!
Welcome to my blog!
In the Coptic Orthodox Christian Church, we chant “Worthy, worthy, worthy” to all of the newly-baptized Christians in the church! For the girls, we chant the Greek: Axia! Axia! Axia! For the boys, we chant: Axios! Axios! Axios! Inspired by these wonderful words and the Song of Songs (or the Song of Solomon) from the Bible, I decided to create this blog to share my thoughts and perspectives on why we struggle so much when we don’t understand our value and God-given worth, how we can gracefully regain our identity, and how to remove negative messages and useless priorities from your life.
I am an Orthodox Christian and I believe that we cannot comprehend our worth outside of God’s love.
In my personal life, I came face-to-face with one of the biggest challenges that faces humans today, namely self-hate or lack of self-worth. Not being able to see the value of my existence, the things I do, the vocation that I pursue, or any inner qualities that I possess has been a painful life experience. Also, not recognizing that God created me for a purpose drove me to the brink of total despair. Eventually, I noticed that many messages that I receive from the media, including social media, and many of the people around me ingrained in me a false perception of who I am and what my value is in this life. I won’t reiterate these message here, because, for each person, they are different. With God’s help, I know that He will help me find my worth in Him, and joy will be the theme of my life despite all the craziness that takes place around me and the chaos inside of me.
Jesus Christ wants us to rejoice always in Him, and He is serious about this!
I pray that you find benefit in the words I share here as I go through this life journey with you. Please, remember me in your prayers as I am also a work-in-progress towards regaining my identity in Our Lord Jesus Christ. God bless you all.
